Description

View of the Century

This image was taken just outside Grand Canyon National Park overlooking the confluence of the Little Colorado and Colorado Rivers nearly 3,000 feet below. The overlook is on Navajo Nation land and a permit is required to visit it. The overlook is at the proposed site of the controversial Escalade complex. This $400 million project would include several hotels, and a tram leading down to the Colorado River. Rarely visited Cape Solitude is to the left of the Colorado River in the background. The title refers to the century plant seen in the left side of the image.
