Studio Rental Application

Sedona Arts Center provides affordable studio space rental in the Art Barn for artists in select media. There are four available studio spaces, prices and sizes vary. Sedona Arts Center requires a 6-month minimum commitment.

Eligibility:

Open to all visual artists, at all levels of their career, over the age of 21. Preference will be given to artists that are donors of Sedona Arts Center. All lessees must be donors of Sedona Arts Center. Donor levels begin at $60 https://sedonaartscenter.org/donate/

About Sedona Arts Center

As one of Northern Arizona’s oldest 501(c) 3 nonprofit organizations, Sedona Arts Center continues to be a gathering place where artists and those who love art can explore, teach, and exhibit. The Arts Center has grown into an educational institution dedicated to nurturing creative discovery, learning and sharing through arts education and artistic development with an international presence.

Eligible Media:

Including the following, but not limited to:

  • Painting: Oils, Acrylic, Water media etc.
  • Jewelry
  • Glass
  • Fiber
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture
  • Digital
  • Mixed media
  • Writing

Due to the open-air nature of the studios, media that produces toxic fumes are not permitted, as well as artwork that requires nonstop continuous loud noise.

Included in the Lease

Studio Lessees are considered leaseholders at Sedona Arts Center. Accepted applicants shall receive a six-month studio lease. Also included in the lease: utilities, parking, kitchen access, restrooms and custodial maintenance of shared spaces. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of the artists. Applicable rules for use of all facilities will be enforced. If found in violation of facilities rules, lessees will be evicted. No exceptions.

Studio Artists Shall Have

  • Access to their studios between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
  • Ability to participate in Sedona Arts Center public events
  • Artist profile listing on sedonaartscenter.org
  • Use of shared utility sinks
  • Free WiF
  • On-site building manager during public hours
  • 24-hour recording security cameras
  • Ability to use the name “Sedona Arts Center” in self-promotions
  • Coffee, food, entertainment, shopping within walking distance.

Operating Rules and Procedures

Accepted applicants shall follow the rules of the Lease and Operating Rules and Procedures found here. These rules and procedures are subject to change with notice.

It is recommended that accepted artists obtain a City of Sedona business license and renter’s insurance. Of note in the Operating Rules and Procedures, leaseholders are required to:

  • Use the studio as a private working space to produce work, not as a public gallery. No art sales are permitted within the studio space.
  • Treat the public, staff, and other artists with courtesy and respect.
  • Maintain minimum noise only consistent with the working process.
  • Work with the Arts Center staff regarding any hazardous activities or material.
  • Obtain any required permits for special equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Not use the public space as an extension of their studio.
  • Use an alternate or home address for received mail and/or packages.

STUDIO RENTAL GUIDELINES
Studio artists are asked to follow guidelines that include but are not limited to:

Contract.
You must sign a six-month occupancy contract. If both parties are in agreement, the contract can extend for another six-month period.

Deposit.
A security deposit equal to one month’s rent is required and is refundable if the space is well maintained. There is a 50% penalty of the deposit if the studio is vacated before lease term ends.

Insurance.
It is recommended that leaseholders obtain Renters Insurance. Sedona Arts Center is not liable for any loss of property should any catastrophic event to the Art Barn occur.

Events.
Sedona Arts Center hosts events several times a year. We will identify which events are open to studio artists and ask that you participate whenever possible.

At a minimum one outlet will be provided within each studio space.
