“The welcoming community I find at the Sedona Arts Center nourishes my life and my art. SAC gives me the opportunity to learn, teach, socialize and gives me a place to exhibit my paintings. Sedona Arts Center is the Heart of Sedona. In 1951, Nassan Gobran, sculptor and founder of the Sedona Arts Center, told me that he saw a need in Sedona for an Arts Center like Tanglewood in Lennox, Massachusetts. This center would provide nourishment and enrichment to culture-starved residents and visitors. An Arts Center would also identify Sedona as a serious art environment. Ten years later, his vision became a reality. For the past 60 years since its founding, the Sedona Arts Center has been and is the cultural and educational anchor of Sedona. Sedona Arts Center is dedicated to sharing the enjoyment and importance of having art in one’s life and making arts education a priority. Now, we all have the responsibility to ensure that this treasured institution continues to exist in Sedona.”

Gretchen Lopez

“These past eight years have been so exciting for me as an artist and an instructor at SAC. To share knowledge with others is the most exciting and rewarding experience of my life.”

Susan Kliewer

“My love affair with the Arts Center began in 1969 when I signed up for a class. While working my day job at the foundry, I learned to sculpt at SAC night classes. I later progressed to teaching that same class. SAC was kind enough to let me sculpt Sedona Schnebly in the Art Barn. Through SAC I’ve been able to develp my artistic talent and to literally change my life.”

Curt Walters

“Since 1978 my true connection to Sedona and its art community has been through the Sedona Arts Center. Congratulations on turning 50 years old. SAC continues to be relevant and is still the hub for visitors exploring Sedona's art community.”
