Courthouse Butte

This photo of Courthouse Butte was shot in late January about 30 minutes before sunset. Focus stacking was used to keep both the yucca and the background in sharp focus. The image was hot from the east side of “Baby Bell” rock just below its summit. The background in the image includes from left to right, Lee Mountain, Rabbit Ears, and Courthouse Butte. Courthouse Butte rises about 1,000 feet above the Village of Oak Creek. It is occasionally climbed from its northwest side, which is the right side of Courthouse as shown in the picture. It is rated 5.11+ and the sandstone rock, like most of that in Sedona, is sketchy.
