Sara Horton is an elementary school art teacher and practicing painter who has called Sedona home for the past nine years. Inspired daily by the region’s vivid colors, dramatic landscapes, and deep sense of place, she brings creativity, curiosity, and joy into the classroom.

As an educator, she is passionate about nurturing young artists, encouraging self-expression, and helping students see art as both a personal voice and a way to connect with the world around them. As a painter, she explores color, texture, and storytelling, drawing influence from nature and the imaginative spirit of childhood.

She believes that teaching young artists continually renews her perspective and reinforces her belief in art as a vital, human practice—one that fosters empathy, confidence, and imagination. Her studio work and teaching practice exist in dialogue, each informing and strengthening the other.
