Monenerkit has a 26-year career in museums and is currently Director of Community Engagement for the Heard Museum, Phoenix, Arizona. His work is focused on the transfer of cultural artistic knowledge through art workshops. He is also engaged in the field as the Exhibitor Chair for the annual Heard Fair and Market and is a commissioner for the U.S. Department of Interior, Indian Arts and Crafts Board. Monenerkit served as Vice President of the Museum Association of Arizona, 2018 – 2023. He and his wife Verna have been married for 20 years and have two daughters in college.
