Friday 5:30 – 8:00 pm

Saturday: 10 am – 4 pm

Sunday: 10 am- 3 pm

This intensive weekend workshop is tailored explicitly for intermediate students who already possess foundational stained glass skills (basic cutting, grinding, and standard edge-foiling). Instead of basic construction, this workshop dives straight into mixed-media dimensional glass art. Students will master sheet copper foil overlay mechanics and learn how to incorporate organic structural components, specifically utilizing copper foil sheets to securely wrap and solder hardwood branches directly into their glass designs.

Sonja London-Hall’s artistry in stained glass is a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and innovative vision. As an Arizona-born artist, she delves into the tradition of glassmaking, which stretches back over 5000 years. Her work exemplifies the unique properties of stained glass—its ability to manipulate light and color in mesmerizing ways.

In her role as a stained-glass instructor, Sonja not only shares her mastery of this ancient craft but also inspires others to explore its boundless possibilities. Her teaching approach reflects a deep respect for traditional techniques while encouraging students to experiment and push the boundaries of what stained glass can achieve. By guiding others in the art of stained glass, Sonja continues to contribute to the evolving narrative of this versatile medium, blending timeless craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.

 Provided On-Site: Shared studio glass grinders are available for student use. Clear practice glass is supplied exclusively for testing design sheet cuts and initial overlay technique applications.

 Not Provided*: Chemical flux, assembly compounds, safety gear, and final project sheet glass are not supplied and must be brought by the student or purchased via the studio.

*Materials can be purchased from the instructor and will range from $80-$120. (see below)

 Copper Sheet Material Rule: Adhesive-backed copper foil sheets—critical for both surface overlays and structural hardwood wrapping—must be preordered and paid for directly through the instructor, or students must independently source their copper sheets directly from Mongo’s Glass Supplies prior to the first evening. All personal project glass and wood components must be available and fully prepared at the launch of class.

Registration

  • Each student must enroll individually
  • Students may register online or by calling the Sedona Arts Center’s Administrative Offices in the Art Barn, toll-free at 888-954-4442 or locally at 928-282-3809
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted or student may pay with cash or check by registering in person during office hours at the Art Barn

In-Person and Online Workshops

  • Payment in full is due upon registration, or a payment plan can be put in place by the student upon check-out through Sezzle.
  • There is a $125 Cancellation Fee for any cancellations made before April 7, 2027. Remaining balance will be refunded.
  • There are no refunds after April 7, 2027.
  • If Sedona Arts Center cancels the workshop for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.

Note: If traveling to Sedona, we strongly urge students to purchase refundable airline tickets or travel insurance in case of workshop cancellation due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen changes. Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for non-refundable ticket purchases or lodging fees.

Important Message

The Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for providing make-up sessions or issuing refunds, credits, or transfers for courses cancelled or missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond our control. There are absolutely no refunds after the cut-off date for any reason, unless the Sedona Arts Center has to cancel the workshop, then all fees paid will be refunded in full.
