Sonja London-Hall’s artistry in stained glass is a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and innovative vision. As an Arizona-born artist, she delves into the tradition of glassmaking, which stretches back over 5000 years. Her work exemplifies the unique properties of stained glass—its ability to manipulate light and color in mesmerizing ways.

In her role as a stained-glass instructor, Sonja not only shares her mastery of this ancient craft but also inspires others to explore its boundless possibilities. Her teaching approach reflects a deep respect for traditional techniques while encouraging students to experiment and push the boundaries of what stained glass can achieve. By guiding others in the art of stained glass, Sonja continues to contribute to the evolving narrative of this versatile medium, blending timeless craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.

Students can utilize studio kits or purchase specialized items directly from the instructor on Friday night:

  • Curated Glass Sampler Pack, $65: Pre-sorted color sets for project work. Cannot be mixed or swapped.
  • Complete Tool Kit, $175.00: Contains oil-fed cutter, pliers, and professional-grade iron to keep.
  • Weekend Tool Kit Rental, $65: Includes all core studio tools for weekend use. Limited to 4 kits total.
  • Inland Brand Glass Grinder, $185: Pre-purchase option for students looking to own their own grinding unit.

Provided Studio Materials: Clear practice glass for Friday night exercises, design templates, and access to a shared on-site glass grinder.

Student-Supplied Requirements: Students must bring their own safety gear, chemical flux, consumables, and project glass, OR purchase them directly from the studio. If students choose to bring their own project glass, it must be organized and completely ready to use at the start of class to maintain the fast weekend pace.

Comprehensive Sourcing Checklist (For independent buyers):
 Project Sheet Glass: Plan for 1-2 square feet (Prices typically range from $15 to $45 per sq. foot depending on texture/color).
 Personal Safety Equipment: ANSI-certified safety glasses and protective work gloves.
 Glass Cutting Tools: High-quality oil-fed glass cutter, cutting oil, running pliers, and breaker-grozier pliers.
 Assembly Chemicals: Liquid or gel soldering flux, flux brush, and specialized neutralizer cleaner.
 Soldering Station: 80W to 100W soldering iron (temperature-controlled preferred), 60/40 solder wire, and stand.
 Foiling Supplies: 7/32″ copper foil roll (standard backing or black-backed based on glass transparency).

Cancellation Policy

Registration

  • Each student must enroll individually
  • Students may register online or by calling the Sedona Arts Center’s Administrative Offices in the Art Barn, toll-free at 888-954-4442 or locally at 928-282-3809
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted or student may pay with cash or check by registering in person during office hours at the Art Barn

In-Person and Online Workshops

  • Payment in full is due upon registration, or a payment plan can be put in place by the student upon check-out through Sezzle.
  • There is a $125 Cancellation Fee for any cancellations made before February 26, 2027. Remaining balance will be refunded.
  • There are no refunds after February 26, 2027.
  • If Sedona Arts Center cancels the workshop for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.

Note: If traveling to Sedona, we strongly urge students to purchase refundable airline tickets or travel insurance in case of workshop cancellation due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen changes. Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for non-refundable ticket purchases or lodging fees.

Important Message

The Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for providing make-up sessions or issuing refunds, credits, or transfers for courses cancelled or missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond our control. There are absolutely no refunds after the cut-off date for any reason, unless the Sedona Arts Center has to cancel the workshop, then all fees paid will be refunded in full.
