Tuesdays, November 3, 10, 17, 24, 2026, 6 pm- 8:30 pm

  • Experience Level: Intermediate-Advanced (Completion of a basic stained-glass course or equivalent hands-on experience.)
  • Medium: Glass
  • Materials List: See materials list tab for more details. Materials Fee of $85 to be paid to the instructor.
  • Registration: Each student needs to enroll individually.
  • Location: Sedona Arts Center, Art Barn building.

Learn traditional lead came techniques and how to integrate them into design to create a clean, stylized small practice panel with framing and finishing.

Focus: Exploring the timeless art of lead came for strength, elegance, and tradition.

Objectives:

  • Cut and assemble a panel using lead came
  • Practice soldering, cementing, and finishing leaded work
  • Compare lead vs. foil techniques and when to use each
  • Frame and reinforce finished pieces for display

Project Idea: A stylized geometric or minimalist panel using lead came construction

Sonja London-Hall’s artistry in stained glass is a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and innovative vision. As an Arizona-born artist, she delves into the tradition of glassmaking, which stretches back over 5000 years. Her work exemplifies the unique properties of stained glass—its ability to manipulate light and color in mesmerizing ways.

In her role as a stained-glass instructor, Sonja not only shares her mastery of this ancient craft but also inspires others to explore its boundless possibilities. Her teaching approach reflects a deep respect for traditional techniques while encouraging students to experiment and push the boundaries of what stained glass can achieve. By guiding others in the art of stained glass, Sonja continues to contribute to the evolving narrative of this versatile medium, blending timeless craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.

A $85 materials/tools fee needs to be paid to the instructor, prior to the start of class and includes:

Registration

  • Each student must enroll individually.
  • Classes must be paid in full upon registration.
  • Students may register online or by calling the Sedona Arts Center Office at 928-282-3809, ext. 1.
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted or student may pay with cash or check by registering in person during office hours Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.

In-Person and Online Classes Cancellation

  • Students must cancel or transfer at least 7 days prior to the first day of class.
  • If a student cancels or transfers before the 7-day cut-off, a 15% fee will be applied.
  • If a student cancels within 7 days prior to class, there are no refunds.
  • If Sedona Arts Center cancels the class for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.

Sonja’s class exceeded my expectations! She was very knowledgeable, experienced, and creative with stained glass techniques. I also found her humorous and thoughtful. She presented herself and her class with online support, goals, strategies, and was extremely prepared with materials, tools, and lesson format. A+ for Sonja!!!

Sonja was excellent. I believe she went above and beyond what a typical instructor might do. I could see she spent a lot of her personal time preparing for the upcoming classes. She was always available early before class and would stay over to help in any way. She took time to understand each student's goals and did what she could to help that student achieve those goals. She made every student feel good about their accomplishments. Her training and instruction style really made me think outside of the traditional stained glass box. I’m looking forward to a level two class in the future.
