Valentina Castilla is a multidisciplinary artist and practicing architect. Born and raised in Mexico City, she has spent over three decades living and working in Canada and the United States.
Her artistic practice spans oil painting, glasswork, and ceramics. Rooted in tactility and emotion, her work explores memory, transformation, and spiritual connection. Each material carries its own language and symbolic weight. Her work is deeply informed by her cultural heritage and migratory experience. Mexican folk art and pre-Columbian symbolisms recur throughout her visual vocabulary. Architecture plays a central role in her approach to form and composition. She is drawn to the tension between structure and spontaneity, control and intuition. Themes of displacement, belonging, and cultural hybridity shape her practice. Her pieces often begin with personal memory and evolve into shared experience. Through texture, form, and color, she bridges the personal and the universal. Valentina holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture, a profession she continues to practice.
