A day of painting begins with finding a scene that fascinates me. I study shapes, shadows, patterns, light, colors and which way the sun is moving. I do a sketch on the canvas and start putting down pieces of color, especially when the light is going to change or go away soon. Both parents were art teachers, so plein air painting was part of my life from childhood. I continue to take workshops each year to continue learning and getting new ideas.

I paint plein air all year round, my goal is for the viewer to feel the joy of the landscape through my work.
