Julia grew up in Northern Kentucky and attended to the Rhode Island School of Design, University of Cincinnati majoring in Industrial Design and received a degree in Illustration form San Jose State. After a full career in retail design she has devoted herself to painting full time. She has participated in the west’s most prestigious plein air events; Carmel Art Festival, Los Gatos, Sedona, Telluride, Sonoma, Zion, Escalante, Easton Maryland, and Santa Fe NM. She has been invited six times to the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art and has a painting in the permanent collection at El Tovar. Her paintings have been selected for numerous exhibitions with the American Impressionist Society, California Art Club and Laguna Plein Air Painters. Julia’s works have been in shows at the San Luis Obispo Art Museum, Steinbeck Museum, Wilding Museum, Epperson Gallery, Monterey Maritime Museum, Pacic Grove Art Association, the Triton Art Museum and the Steinbeck Center. Julia was awarded First Place for oils in the Santa Cruz Statewide Landscape Show by juror, Jean Stern and Best of Show in LPAPA’s Best of Plein Air Exhibition earning an invitation to the Laguna Plein Air Festival. She was honored as Artist of the Month in 2011 by the LPAPA. Julia has been featured at Galleria Tontantzin, Portola Art Gallery, Baywood Gallery, and currently at Viewpoints Gallery in Los Altos CA.
