Dear Friends,
It’s been a very busy summer prepping and planning for all the workshops and classes, events, exhibits and programs ahead.
We will be opening OUT OF THE FIRE, our annual ceramic student showcase and sale, on September 15 with Celebrate Sedona and the Artist Reception on September 19 from 4–6pm. This juried exhibit highlights the best of the best of our ceramic student’s work. It is an event that so many look forward to each year – including all of us! Please stop in during our regular Gallery Shop hours and find a gem for your collection.
We also have a few spots left in Jesse Petersen’s Dream Keeper: Create a Surrealist Inspired Mixed Media Deck workshop that begins on September 12th. Jesse has been teaching for us for three years and she is great! Her classes are thought-provoking and reflective, providing students guided examples and flexibility to “do your own thing.” I strongly encourage anyone who loves art journaling and mixed media art to consider this workshop.
In addition, don’t miss a few more unique opportunities this fall: iPhoneography with Kelli Klymenko on September 19th, a one-day workshop (offered both in-person and online) that will help you unlock the full creative potential of your iPhone’s camera; Alternative Firing with CJ Henderson on September 14 & 21, where you’ll explore exciting approaches to alternative surface finishes in ceramics; and The Joy of Painting: A Bob Ross Class on September 18th, a fun and welcoming experience perfect for anyone ready to bring a canvas to life with happy little trees; and Broken and Mended: Contemporary Glass Creations with Sonja London-Hall on September 20–21, where you’ll experiment with tempered and laminate glass through breaking, firing, and reassembling to create one-of-a-kind works that blend resilience, imagination, and beauty.
Please take advantage of any or all of our school offerings. Immersing yourself in the arts provides a respite to all the noise in the world right now. I hope to see you around campus soon!
Warmly,
Julie A. Richard
