Transforming your Plein Air Studies into Encaustics

Experience Level: Some encaustics experience or have taken the previous Intro to Encaustics workshop.

Materials Fee: $50 paid directly to instructor for some supplies on the first day.
Location: Sedona Arts Center, Theatre Studio.
This two-day intensive is designed for Artists who have had some experience in encaustic and are fluent in the basics or have taken previous Introductory Workshop. In this intensive, students will be encouraged to develop their voice with this medium and landscape painting with individual attention and work time. Students will learn how to transfer landscape sketches and techniques specific to encaustic for building up surface and interpreting form, color and light. We will work towards making work that demonstrates a style emerging or a particular interest. Students will leave feeling accomplished and inspired!

Private: Helene Farrar
Hélène Farrar has taught and worked in the visual arts for twenty years while actively exhibiting in commercial, nonprofit and university galleries in New England, New York City, Pennsylvania, Italy, and England. Farrar has a BA in Studio Art from the University of Maine and a Masters of Fine Art Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College in Vermont. Hélène currently owns and operates her own private art school in Maine out of her “Farmhouse” studio, where she holds varied workshops and classes. Her paintings have most recently been accepted into curated exhibits at the Cape Cod Community College, Fuller Craft Museum, the Saco Museum, the University of New England Art Gallery, and Twiggs Gallery in New Hampshire. Farrar is represented by Archipelago Fine Arts in Rockland, Betts Gallery of Belfast, Cynthia Winings Gallery of Blue Hill, and the Center for Maine Craft in West Gardiner. Her work as an educator has brought her across the state of Maine including the Haystack Mountain School or Crafts, and she will be teaching at the 2019 International Encaustics Conference.
A $50 additional fee paid to the instructor for materials she provides. I will provide all encaustic medium, starter panels (sizes under 8 X 8 inches), access to additional encaustic colors, oil paint sticks, tools and such.

In-Person and Online Workshops
Payment in full is due upon registration, or a payment plan can be put in place by the student upon check-out through Sezzle.
There is a $125 Cancellation Fee for any cancellations made before April 6, 2025. Remaining balance will be refunded.
There are no refunds after April 6, 2025.
If Sedona Arts Center cancels the workshop for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.
Note: If traveling to Sedona, we strongly urge students to purchase refundable airline tickets or travel insurance in case of workshop cancellation due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen changes. Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for non-refundable ticket purchases or lodging fees.
Important Message
The Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for providing make-up sessions or issuing refunds, credits, or transfers for courses missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond our control.
