Hélène Farrar is a Maine-based American artist who works primarily in encaustic. Her colorful paintings draw themes from the natural world and her observations of it, and they have a depth and luminousness achieved through careful attention to texture and surface quality. She considers her work part of a conversation about humanity, beauty, and nature. Hélène is a masterful teacher with over 25 years of working with individuals from a formal setting to workshops across the USA in prestigious institutions such as the Haystack School, the Farnsworth Museum, and the International Encaustics Conference. When Hélène isn’t painting, she is happiest biking, reading, listening to live music and noticing the flowers. She recently located to Rockland, Maine with her husband, college-heading daughter, and a sassy cat. She has a studio in Tenants Harbor, Maine with an ever evolving ocean view.
