Let creativity take shape this summer! The Kids Clay Camp invites young artists to explore the world of pottery through fun hands-on learning. Campers will discover a variety of hand building techniques such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction while creating imaginative and functional projects. Each day encourages creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression in a supportive and relaxed studio environment. In addition to hand building, students will have the opportunity to experience the magic of the pottery wheel and try their hand at throwing clay under guided instruction.

Throughout the week, campers will learn about materials, texture, form, and glazing while developing confidence and artistic skills. Students will end up with a variety of decorative and functional projects they can enjoy long after camp ends!

No prior clay experience is needed – just curiosity and  a willingness to get a little messy. Finished pieces will be fired in the kiln and ready for pickup on a later date.

What Campers Will Learn & Create:

Foundational Techniques: Practice forming a multitude of shapes in addition to pinch pots, coils, slabs and how to join them using slip and scoring techniques. Explore how to use pottery tools large and small. Learn about how your work gets processed in the kilns.

Inspired Projects: From tiles and treasure jars, dishes, vases, votives, and critters, each day includes a demonstration followed by guided crafting, sculpting, and decorating.

Surface Design & Glazing: Dive into surface techniques with stamps, roulettes, and carving tools. Bring your creations to life with vibrant underglazes.

Class Highlights:

Inspired Design: Campers are encouraged to lean into their imagination, have fun and bring their individual ideas to life.

Structured Learning: Campers receive guidance on how clay behaves and how to build sturdy structures.

Materials Included: Tuition covers all clay, glazes, and firings. Due to the nature of the medium, some projects will be fired after camp ends and will need to be picked up at a later date. Shipping options are available upon request.
