In this class students will learn how to create copper foil, stained glass art. We will learn the process of cutting glass for art or general purpose. We will learn how to use existing patterns or how make your own, along with mounting and display ideas. Students will leave the class with 1 – 3 sample projects (8 x 8 in). Some tools will be available for use but it is recommended students purchase a basic tool kit from the instructor prior to the start of class. (See materials list.)

Sonja London-Hall’s artistry in stained glass is a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and innovative vision. As an Arizona-born artist, she delves into the tradition of glassmaking, which stretches back over 5000 years. By guiding others in the art of stained glass, Sonja continues to contribute to the evolving narrative of this versatile medium, blending timeless craftsmanship with contemporary creativity.

If searching for the tools below online, include the words “stained glass tool” followed by the name of the tool itself. A complete kit of all tools listed below and solder can be purchased in advance from the instructor for $150. A class grinder will be available during instruction time and on site for use. The teacher will supply clear practice glass for learning basic steps and learning how to cut. *Glass for student final projects is supplied by the student which we will discuss in class and order as it pertains to the pattern you choose. We will discuss tools and their use at the first class meeting. We will discuss tools and purchase options at the first class meeting.

A Materials Fee of $150 can be paid to the instructor, and will include the following materials:

  • Soldering Iron
  • Running Pliers
  • Grozer Pliers
  • Glass cutter (pistol grip)
  • Canfield 60/40 solder, one roll = one lb
  • Gel flux
  • Flux brush
  • ¼ inch, black-backed copper foil

*Glass for final project will be paid separately.

Cancellation Policy

Registration

  • Each student must enroll individually.
  • Classes must be paid in full upon registration.
  • Students may register online or by calling the Sedona Arts Center Office at 928-282-3809, ext. 1.
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted or student may pay with cash or check by registering in person during office hours Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.

In-Person and Online Classes Cancellation

  • Students must cancel or transfer at least 7 days prior to the first day of class.
  • If a student cancels or transfers before the 7-day cut-off, a 15% fee will be applied.
  • If a student cancels within 7 days prior to class, there are no refunds.
  • If Sedona Arts Center cancels the class for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.

The Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for providing make-up sessions or issuing refunds, credits, or transfers for courses missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond our control. There are absolutely no refunds after the cut-off date for any reason, unless the Sedona Arts Center has to cancel the workshop, then all fees paid will be refunded in full.
