Melanie Schmidt

Melanie Schmidt is an artist, designer and educator. Ms. Schmidt’s art practice originates from a place of emotion that she explores through color and movement. Her goal is to use the universal language of imagery to connect with viewers, evoke feelings and to wonder what they see. Group exhibitions include work at The Milwaukee Art Museum and The Shafler Gallery, Brooklyn. Throughout her extensive career in costume design and theatrical production arts, her work has been featured on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in television and dance in New York City. She is a Professor at Pratt Institute, School of Art and Design in the Fashion Department.
