Peyton Lawler
Peyton Lawler is an artist from Huntsville, AL who primarily works in ceramics. She earned her BFA from the University of North Alabama and her MFA from the University of Mississippi. She utilizes the wheel as a tool to create utilitarian objects for everyday use.
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural creativity with his repetition of shapes that tessellate down hallways and combining rectilinear lines with her lifelong fascination with birds. Through this endeavor, she plays with the idea of control and fragility through her interpretation of Wright’s designs and blends them into her work by exploring new ways of building and structuring objects that can be displayed both for their utility as well as their beauty. She is currently an artist in residence at Midwestern State University Texas along with adjunct teaching.
