I have been refining my unique style of fine art for the past twenty-five years and my high and low relief artworks are often referred to as 3-Dimensional Paintings; I first draw an image, then carefully hand carve the detailed image into a panel of select woods and finish the art with fine painting techniques. I describe my artwork as “Fine Art in Wood.” Olaf Wieghorst Museum and Western Heritage Center states, “Award winning artist Don Woodard combines carving and color to produce visual and functional art with western and wildlife themes. Like Olaf, Don’s art is influenced by events experienced first-hand.” Western Art Collector Magazine states, “Don Woodard likes to call his work, Fine Art in Wood, and he’s not wrong with that title.” It’s nice to be recognized for creating a style of artwork that is very unique and non-traditional. My high and low relief, mixed media styles of artwork allow me to blend detailed woodcarving with fine painting, that is being well received by art collectors.
