January News – 2024

Happy New Year!  While 2023 was certainly eventful (literally), we are definitely looking forward to a magical and wonderful 2024.

The most exciting news is that we’ve moved in to our new offices. And while the contractors are still finishing up all the odds and ends, we are thrilled to be in a space that is accessible, clean and fresh. We will be holding an Open House on Sunday, January 28 from 3 – 5PM so please come see the new digs as well as the last few hours of the Out of the Fire Student Exhibit and Sale in our SEG.  It is always a great event!

In addition to our Open House, the final Cultural Appropriation discussion/lecture will be on January 21 at 2PM in the Theater.  Drawing Cultural Inspiration will focus on Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists’ use of cultural symbols, the history of Indigenous representation in art, and the dynamics between the dominant culture and Indigenous artists who rely on their art for financial success.

Our annual Out of the Fire ceramics student exhibition will be January 26-28, 2024 with an Opening Reception on January 26 from 4-7PM in the SEG.

And our annual Vision + Sound: An African American Experience program will kickoff in Peoria on January 6 with an exhibit at the Peoria Main Library and open here in Sedona on February 1 with the exhibit and the Opening Reception will be held in conjunction with Celebrate Sedona on February 7 from 4-6PM featuring the Tommy Dukes Band, artist demonstrations and more.

Don’t forget to check out our Gallery Shop and featured artists Carol Kahn – Jewelry, Hadley Rampton – Painter, and Barry Richardson – Wood.

We also lots of new classes and workshops up online including a Field Expedition to Alaska – so please consider joining us!

Thanks, as always, for your support and patronage. We look forward to an exciting 2024!

Warmly,

Julie A. Richard
