March News

It’s starting to feel a bit like spring.  Hopefully the snow is done and warmer temperatures are here to stay.

We just wrapped up our Vision & Sound Symposium – Race, Culture & Understanding. This year’s Symposium received rave reviews.  It was such a great experience for the artists, the audience and for us and our partner, the ASU Center for the Study of Race & Democracy.  The Keynote address by Chip Thomas was extraordinarily compelling and the workshop led by Liz Lerman and House had several participants moved to tears.  Recordings of portions of the day will be up on our website shortly so please check those out.

The final event of Vision & Sound was held this past Saturday night in Peoria with the Don Williams & Company concert at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts.  It was sold out and the 270+ people in attendance were treated to a bonus – probably due to the dancing in the aisles throughout the concert!

The Vision & Sound exhibits at the Peoria Main Library in Peoria and the Georgia T. Lord Library in Goodyear will be up until the end of March – so if you are down in the Valley please check them out.

The Juried Members Show is open!  The Artist’s Reception will be this Friday, March 8 from 4-6PM so please come meet the artists and see this great show.  The pieces on exhibit were selected from over 300 entries.  It is a show not to be missed.

As always, explore our workshops and classes on our website – we are always adding new – and check out our Gallery Shop for great purchases from over 100 local and regional artists. This month’s featured artists in the Gallery are Nancy Foo, Lili Anne Laurin, and Sandra Luehrsen. Their work is fantastic so please stop by.

Have a great March and hope to see you on our campus soon!

Best,

Julie
