Community Paint out at L’Auberge de Sedona
May 9 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 pm
Community ‘Paint Out’
May 9th, 8:00 – 11:30 am
Sponsored by L’Auberge de Sedona, Goldenstein Gallery, Sedona Arts Center and Red Rock Magic Trolley
(Last shuttle returns at 1pm)
Art Curator at L’Auberge de Sedona and owner of Goldenstein Gallery, Linda Goldenstein, invites the community to participate in completing plein air paintings or drawings in any medium, along the banks of Oak Creek at L’Auberge de Sedona. Artists will set up along the L’Auberge creekside and enjoy brilliant views of the creek, rocks, trees, and ducks. Artists can begin working upon arrival and stop at 11am. Finished works may be displayed on the creekside lawns using artist’s own easel and they may be for sale. The Arts Center will present an award at 11:15am and will process any sales from 11-11:30am.
As parking is very limited at the resort, Red Rock Magic Trolley will be shuttling artists and the public from the Sedona Arts Center lower parking lot to nearby L’Auberge resort, back and forth from 8am to 1pm, leaving plenty of time after the event for lunch at Cress on Oak Creek, the lovely creekside restaurant at L’Auberge.
Information for artists:
The event is open to painters and drawers using oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, etc. To participate, members of the Sedona Arts Center register for free to paint or draw, non-members pay a $10.00 per artist registration fee.
Although not a requirement, we do encourage work to be offered for sale and also to put up for judging. This is a great way to gain some experience in plein air competitions with very low commitment and it adds excitement to the onlookers. Artists who wish to offer their work for sale should consider bringing along a frame to pop their piece into so it is ready for the customer to take home and hang on their wall.
8am-1pm: Red Rock Magic Trolley will run continuously between SAC and L’Auberge (no $ charge, driver gratuity recommended)
8am-8:30am: Artists park at SAC and take Trolley to L’Auberge for set-up and to begin working
11am: Artists gather together with their work onto the lawn to display for judging/sales – one award given (to be determined; usually a certificate to be used toward classes or an item in the gallery at the Arts Center)
11:30am: Event is over (go eat lunch at the Cress on Oak Creek, the creekside restaurant at L’Auberge!)
1pm: Last Trolley back to the Sedona Arts Center parking lot
Artists must provide all their own materials; portable easels, panels, frames, etc. Artists will price their own work using three-part receipts provided by the Sedona Arts Center. All sales will be processed by the Sedona Arts Center with artists receiving 60% of sales from the event. By registering you agree to these terms. Only registered artists may paint or draw at the event. Best of Show will win $100 gift certificate to be used at the Sedona Arts Center.
