Many artists employ sketchbooks to capture journaling exercises, create travel sketches and inspire finished pieces of art. In this two-day class, students will get inspiration by strolling downtown Sedona, collaging upon return to the classroom and creating uniquely personalized stories in pocket-sized 3.5 x 7″ sketchbooks which open accordian-style. Students find this class and book form to be highly inspirational in creating momentum, flow and artistic storytelling.
Students will be given a 38-page pocket-sized Seawhite of Brighton Concertina Sketchbook to create an unfolding storybook using acrylic paint, inks, markers, pencils, Stabilos, pens, art papers, stencils, photos, scraps and other found materials. There is a $40 materials fee payable directly to the instructor on the first day, to cover the cost of all supplies. While the instructor will bring many materials, students are highly encouraged to bring special papers, objects and copied photographs to personalize their sketchbook journal. Students may spend time outside enjoying the inspirational Sedona views if weather permits. These pocket-sized concertina sketchbooks are perfect travel companions. All skill levels are welcome.
