Joy’s lecture will discuss how to present your art professionally on an artist’s budget, designing an efficient workspace, and the basic tools of the trade needed to repurpose,  and craft beautiful one-of-a-kind frames. She will give a demonstration on constructing a frame, glass cutting, and assembling a framed piece of art, with basic framing tools.  This will include works on paper, photography, panels, canvas and more. You will walk away with a list of tools, a Framing Basics manual, and the knowledge to create your own winning combinations using supplied frames, or building one from scratch. The second day will include a hands-on workshop day. Bring in your frame of choice and artwork, or photograph, to assemble. You will receive instruction on assembling with best practices and take home your artwork ready to hang.

Joy Wolfe had a custom framing business for many years and is a past member of The Professional Picture Framers Association.  Her interior designer business provided her clients with many art and framing selections.  Many of her past clients were established painters in Minnesota. She is well versed in creating beautiful and stimulating aesthetics with fine art as the focus. She has had the pleasure of working alongside artists at every level and now chooses to work with emerging artists who are looking to grow their art into a business.

Joy Wolfe’s framing class was extremely informative and well-organized. As a small business with minimal framing experience, we found the instruction clear, approachable, and easy to follow. The instructor was both knowledgeable and engaging, offering valuable hands-on practice that reinforced each concept. We were able to implement many of the techniques immediately in our laser art business, and it has significantly enhanced the presentation of our work. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to build or improve their framing skills.

With her depth of knowledge, Joy approaches her Framing Workshop with artistry, technical expertise and fun! Beyond a how to, she shares tricks of the trade, demystifies material choices and has a practical approach. The workshop teaches you how to approach framing your own art or your collection. Her background in appraising and art handling helps clarify why to use certain materials and she provides sources for the best products. Joy’s years of design background is evident in her out of the box thinking about framing. Her unique perspective and her amazing energy made the workshop beyond worthwhile. I walked away confident that I could take on framing my art to protect, enhance and elevate my drawings and paintings. What more could you ask for, thanks Joy!
