Sarah Stec is a Chicago-based artist working in mixed media and fiber. She has loved making and experiencing art since grade school where she learned how to create floral reflections with yarn and paint—a process which she still experiments with today. The necessity to create has grown stronger over the years. Aging, grief, body autonomy, botanical geometry and a career in advertising have served as inspirational fuel for her compositions ranging from drawings to mixed media sculptures. Sarah’s influences are drawn from Jackson Pollock, René Magritte, Katsushika Hokusai, Eva Hesse and Ruth Asawa, while she continues to develop her own style and translations.
