Matthew Straka grew up in the Lake Country area of Wisconsin, where his family frequently went on outdoor excursions, playing and enjoying the wildlife of the Midwest. Alongside these frequent trips, his family spent time antiquing and learning the art of refurbishing furniture. During Matthew’s academic career, he attended the Kettle Moraine School for the Arts, where he discovered his love of ceramics. He later followed this passion to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Post-graduation, Matthew has pursued his career as a potter and an instructor at The Potter’s Shop, where he seeks to share his love for the arts and the knowledge he has acquired.
