Louis’s work is based on his love for traveling and finding solitude in nature. His drawings and paintings touch on his memories, experiences, and direct observations of the landscape. His work also reflects a deep gratitude for the Earth, inspired by his spiritual connections with places that resonate with him — new and familiar.
He received a BA from Rider University and an MFA in painting from the New York Studio School, studying with notable painters and critics such as Deborah Rosenthal, Graham Nickson, Karen Wilkin, and Jed Perl. Louis resides in New Jersey, where he is a professor at both Borough of Manhattan Community College in NYC and Monmouth University in NJ. He has exhibited widely, most recently at the Sedona Art Center (AZ), Big Happy Gallery (NM), First Street Gallery (NYC), Shirley Fiterman Art Center (NYC), and Visionary Art Collective (Brooklyn).
