Lisbeth Cort’s art practice didn’t begin until later in life, but it has become an essential part of her daily routine. From her pretty studio on a hill in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she creates vibrant paintings that are full of rich details and saturated colors. Influenced by the high desert landscape and flora, she brings a sense of joy and playfulness to every painting.

Originally a nonprofit leader in historic preservation, Lisbeth discovered her love for sketching in 2010 through the Urban Sketchers movement. What began as filling travel sketchbooks with ink and watercolor has since grown into a diverse artistic practice that includes watercolor, acrylics, pastels, and collage. Her paintings are known for their lively patterns and vibrant layering of colors.

In addition to her fine art, Lisbeth’s paintings are the basis for popular artisan goods – stationary, prints and cloisonné pins – that are sold in museum shops and boutiques throughout the Southwest.

Her goal is simple: to bring a smile to people’s faces, especially in tough times. Her art has been described as “capturing laughter,” a compliment she treasures. Whether she’s working on a new collage or experimenting in her sketchbook, Lisbeth’s work is all about sharing joy through art.
