Enrique Díaz was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He studied at Yale University, graduating with a B.A. in History, before moving to California. A few years in the Army were followed by 15 years in the steel industry, and by 2001, he had moved to Arizona to raise his family. There, he discovered his calling as a teacher and taught Science, History, Religion, and Art, culminating in seven years as a principal before his retirement.
Since childhood, Art has been one of Díaz’s passions, and now that he has retired, he has dedicated more time to this pursuit. His favorite mediums are pen, charcoal, and acrylic. According to Díaz, he often finds himself surprised by beautiful sights, beautiful people, beautiful moments, and is motivated to capture that intangible spark. In viewing his art, Díaz hopes that he can connect with the viewer and pull them into the story, or perhaps help them create a story of their own.
