The Mountain Listens by Christine Liske 44J

Nature inspired - then the painting takes on a life of its own. That’s how I like to think of my painting process. By painting loose and splashy, I let the watercolors do their own organic blending of color to create the watercolor magic - especially when painting “en plein air” (in the open air). Other times, my painting process is more controlled, or abstract using water soluble pastels or acrylics. It really depends on the subject matter and how I can best get to know it and share it. After painting a subject, I feel like we have a relationship. I can never pass by that same type of tree, fence or iguana without remembering and relating to it. One of my favorite things in life is finishing a painting, signing it and hanging it up! Once retired, my husband and I traveled around the United States in our Airstream trailer to be inspired by the mountains, creeks, the desert and the coast. I hope the inspiration I feel at the time is captured in my paintings for others to enjoy.

Description

The Mountain Listens is a portrait of Wilson Mountain located in Uptown Sedona. This is the view from my favorite meditation locations. I listen to the mountain’s ancient wisdom and i know it listens to me.
