Discover the beauty of color, texture and contrast in this hands-on mosaic workshop. Students will explore the art of creating expressive, abstract mosaics using natural slate as a foundation. Learn how to design and construct your own tesserae (mosaic pieces) from a variety of materials, including stone, glass, and found objects. Through guided instruction, students will develop techniques for safely shaping materials, arranging compositions, and adhering pieces to create a cohesive and visually compelling surface.
By the end of the class, participants will complete a rustic, abstract mosaic artwork and leave with the skills and confidence to continue working in mosaic at home.
