I grew up in Phoenix Arizona and have lived in Oklahoma and Texas. I now reside in Payson Arizona where I work in my studio to create paintings, collages, assemblages and sculpture. I received a BFA in painting from Arizona State University and an MFA in Sculpture from Texas Tech University. I taught art in grades K-8 in public schools, as well as, at colleges in Texas, Louisiana, and Arizona for 30 years. The classes I taught were; painting, collage, drawing, design, art appreciation and art history. I create multi media artwork, frequently from found objects. I have a large collection of beautiful imported papers and images from books and the internet from which I assemble collages. Pattern and color are of special interest to me. For assemblage and sculpture I have a collection of found objects of various materials. Scavenging materials is a part of the process in my work. From this collection of materials comes my artistic inspiration, I create surprising, unique and diverse images and sculptural objects. I frequently use vintage images hoping to relate the idea of looking forward while looking back. Reusing found objects to present new ways of looking at used objects, the viewer is meant to challenge their perception. I strive to suggest the natural world and mysterious and mystical themes. I like to use materials associated with the feminine, such as, lace, fabric and quilting. The use of silver objects reflect things that are precious and how that compares to more traditional art. I have fun with materials and use humor and whimsy in my work
