In 1962 Terry Shoulders began his professional involvement with the photographic image, shooting for the local newspaper in Vincennes, Indiana.

While attending art school jn Chicago he accepted an opportunity to apprentice as an assistant at a top commercial studio. This experience served him well, and in 1971 he opened his own commercial photography studio.

The next two decades Terry immersed himself in advertising photography, shooting for Fortune 500 companies, the Chicago Stock Exchange, American Express, United Airlines, Fed-Ex, Sara Lee, Hiram Walker Liqueurs, Converse, and Illinois Bell & Michigan Bell among others.

From these 20 years of exploration Terry’s own unique style emerged into a body of work. His images express mood and atmosphere and artistic individuality. Terry has presented numerous exhibitions, and given several lectures over the years. In Sedona, 2006, Terry began to share his experience and enthusiasm for the photographic medium by offering photographic workshops.

Terry has been an Art Consultant as well as the Director of fine art galleries in Taos, New Mexico, Sedona, Arizona, and Camel, California.

In 2009 Terry, and his wife Juna, relocated to the Monterey Peninsula where he was a Docent and then selected to be Workshop Coordinator for The Center for Photography in Carmel, California, which was Ansel Adam’s former Gallery. Continuing his passion for fine art photography, he then opened his own fine art photography gallery in. Carmel, Shoulders Photography Gallery.

In 2014 Terry moved back to Sedona, where he finished his first novel and has a sequel in the works. He continues to pursue his passion of fine art photography.
