As a kid Susan found her first yard sale at age 11 and purchased a intricate Italian wood inlayed playing card box and some minis and was captured. She was always intrigued and collected small items, rocks, wood, nature stuff, old boxes, containers and especially groups of small things her entire life. She always found it fun to arrange, set up and make collages, mostly in old boxes. At age 46 she got first real exposure to art by taking a job at Whitehall Gallery in Historic Annapolis, Md. There she interacted daily with artists, learned framing, started making and selling one of a kind greeting cards and her unique and desirable collage boxes. As with most artists, she was inspired when buyers gave compliments and encouraged her to show more of her creations. Sue’s first show was a side window of the Annapolis gallery and displayed many of her collage boxes. In 2011 she moved to San Jose, CA and got a job managing The Los Gatos Art Gallery for over 2 years while continuing to create her collages. Susan moved to Cottonwood, AZ in February 2020 and has since exhibited art locally.
