Peter Anderson

Peter Anderson is a mixed-media artist, educator, and workshop instructor whose work explores the intersection of abstraction, music, memory, and landscape through monoprint, collage, drawing, and assemblage. Recently relocated to Arizona from New Hampshire, Anderson has maintained a full-time studio practice for more than two decades, developing a distinctive process-driven approach that combines large-scale monoprinting, torn paper collage, and improvisational drawing.

His work has been exhibited throughout New England in juried and invitational exhibitions, including Concord Art, the New Hampshire Art Association, AVA Gallery and Art Center, the Library Arts Center, and the Newburyport Art Association. His mixed-media work Les Barricades Mystérieuses received the Juror’s Choice Award at the 2025 Newburyport Art Association National Juried Exhibition.

Anderson’s teaching philosophy is rooted in exploration, experimentation, and discovery. His signature Rock/Paper/Scissors workshop introduces artists to an innovative process that combines monoprinting, collage, and drawing to create large-scale mixed-media works. Designed for both representational and abstract artists, the workshop encourages participants to move beyond predetermined outcomes and engage with improvisation, layered surfaces, and emergent composition.

In addition to his studio and teaching work, Anderson has enjoyed a broad professional career that includes international teaching, business leadership, and technology consulting. He spent three years teaching English in Japan, an experience that continues to influence his appreciation for Japanese aesthetics, calligraphy, and gesture. These diverse experiences inform his ability to connect with students from a wide range of artistic backgrounds and skill levels.

Through both his artwork and workshops, Anderson encourages artists to embrace process, take creative risks, and discover unexpected possibilities within their own work. His classes are known for being energetic, supportive, and accessible while providing participants with practical techniques and new ways of thinking about abstraction, composition, and creative practice.
