Artist Statement:  “My artwork combines man-made materials with nature’s own art.  My use of color, texture and resin compels viewers to actually touch the surface of my pieces.  I frequently use river stone, granite, marble, copper, shell, tree bark, semi-precious stones and fossils in combination with man-made materials to create art pieces that convey nature’s peacefulness.  Many of my pieces depict rivers, streams, landscapes and birds.”

Background:  Liberal Arts, Masters and Post Doctorate Degrees.  32 year career in Secondary Education.  Throughout his teaching career, Art was continuously expanding his knowledge through extensive worldwide travel, using these trips to study architectural design, cultural diversity and world famous works of art.  Exposure to antiquities and treasures formed the basis of Art’s artistic eye, palette and style.  Early age retirement provided the opportunity for Art, in collaboration with his wife, artist Joanne Hiscox, to pursue his artistic interests.

Art, a past member of the Resident Teaching Faculty at the Sedona Art Center, has participated in numerous Invitational and Juried Shows.  Art’s architectural art focuses on custom tables, inlaid stone wall art and standing sculpture.  Art’s collaborative work is in galleries, private residences and commercial venues throughout the United States, Canada, South American and Europe.
