May News – 2026

Dear Friends,

May has arrived, bringing longer, warmer days. You can tell summer is just around the corner.

This month, we are excited to present a new exhibition, FORM and FACE: Abstract Bodies + Masked Identities, in our Special Exhibit Gallery. Featuring work by Zarco Guerrero, Mike Medow, and Kevin Titzer, this dynamic show runs through May 31. Exploring the intersections of abstraction, the human form, and identity, the exhibition uses sculptural masks, figurative assemblage, and evocative materials to examine how identity is constructed, concealed, and revealed. It’s a truly compelling experience—don’t miss it.

In our Gallery Shop, we’re highlighting the work of Michael Coyne, Lisa Lund, and Karen Puckett. Representing more than 100 state and regional artists, these featured artists offer a wonderful cross-section of the gallery’s diverse talent.

We’re also proud to partner with the City of Tolleson on ¡Qué Hermoso!, a vibrant exhibition at the Tolleson Art Gallery (Tolleson Civic Center, 9055 W. Van Buren Street, Tolleson, AZ). This exhibition celebrates the richness, imagination, and cultural resonance of contemporary Latino art, featuring works by Emily Costello, Monica Gisel, Edgar Fernandez, Annie Lopez, David Murrieta, Vangie Rodriguez, Veronica Verdugo-Lomeli, and Frank Ybarra. Bringing together diverse voices and mediums, it offers a joyful exploration of identity, memory, tradition, and creative expression.

Join us for a special Artist Meet & Greet on Tuesday, May 12, from 4:30–6:30 PM at the Tolleson Public Library. Enjoy appetizers and drinks, and a live sculpture demonstration by Emily Costello.

We’re also offering a full lineup of classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out or refining your craft, our instructors are here to support you. Be sure to register early, as spots fill quickly.

As always, your support makes everything we do possible. Every visit, donation, and purchase helps keep the arts—and artists—thriving in our community.

I hope to see you around campus soon!

Warmly,

Julie A. Richard, CEO
