The Climber by Todd Richardson EOS

Todd Richardson
Todd Richardson
Todd Richardson is a sculptor, ceramicist, and visual arts educator with nearly 20 years experience in public and private high schools. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Todd began his career in Green Bay teaching ceramics, sculpture, and 3D Design courses before uprooting his family and moving across the country to lead the Arts Department at Verde Valley School in Sedona, AZ. Now in his sixth year, Todd has contributed to the education and burgeoning artistic output of Verde Valley School students while making time to immerse himself in the vast landscapes of the southwest, explore Sedona from a mountain bike saddle, and spend as much time as possible with his wife and three daughters. His work explores the intersection of humanity and the environment by representing people of all backgrounds in the settings in which they live, work, and recreate. By observing the relationship between people and place he hopes to inspire in viewers the importance of land management, protection, conservation before these great wild places are gone.

Description

The Climber attempts to reconcile the importance of natural wild places to the humans that dwell in them. Sheer rock walls are a playground for exploration and sport providing a sense of awe and challenge but they are also at risk of exploitation, damage, and abuse. Explore with tact and respect.
