As someone with a case of tactile munchies, Lo is passionate about introducing students to the medium of clay, the joy and possibilities of creating with it. Her favorite tool is the potter’s wheel. Lo has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and encourages discovery-based learning methods.  As a Licensed Massage Therapist, she brings a kinesthetic sensitivity to her teaching, helping students connect physically with the medium. Lo gained her understanding of ceramic processes and materials at Yavapai College through both coursework and employment as a studio technician, mentor ceramists, workshops, and hands on experience. In 2019 she took a class at SAC and has been involved in their ceramics department ever since. Outside of teaching, you will find her tending to studio needs, making and practicing atmospheric firings at Reitz Ranch Center for the Ceramic Arts, as well as continuing her education in bodywork/massage therapy.

Students should bring a sketchbook for design planning and any personal tools they wish to use. Aprons and towels are recommended for working with clay.

First bag of clay included.  Additional bags of clay may be purchased during class for $45 per bag which includes glazing & firing fees.  Enrolled students may also participate in one open studio practice session per week.

Pottery Tools – There are 9-piece tool kits available for purchase in the Ceramics Studio for $15 per kit. Purchase of the tool kit is not required to take the class.

"Lo is such a great teacher. I was nervous about taking this class because I didn't really have any prior experience but she made me feel like I could do anything. She gave me the confidence to let go of my apprehension and to just have fun. This has led to me discovering that I really do love ceramics which is why I signed up for another class and will probably keep doing it for the rest of my life. I'm very grateful to her for helping me realize my new passion."
