Soiled Pretty by Sharon Gilham BGAS25

Sharon Gilham
Sharon Gilham
Sharon Gilham is a mixed media artist based in Denver, Colorado, creating layered, textural work from vintage paper, found objects, and discarded materials. Her process is intuitive and experimental, often beginning with a color palette, an emotion, or a piece of something forgotten. What follows is part storytelling, part excavation. A lifelong collector of overlooked things, Sharon taught herself to make art the same way she lives: by feeling her way through it. As an emerging artist, she’s drawn to themes of transformation, memory, and the quiet chaos of becoming. Her work is shaped by personal history, Midwestern garage sale Saturdays, and a deep appreciation for things that still carry weight, even after they’ve been cast aside.

Description

A study in forbidden love between women in the Victorian era. It explores silence as survival and frames hidden intimacy as an act of quiet rebellion: strength found not in loud defiance, but in the radical act of choosing each other anyway.
