Elizabeth St. Hilaire, “Oak Creek Morning”
12 x 24 x 2 | plein air collage of hand-painted papers | $995 | 2″ deep gallery-wrapped edge
Elizabeth’s work is created from torn tidbits of papers that are hand-painted with Golden Artist Colors with a plethora of techniques she teaches in her in-person and online workshops. Elizabeth facilitated a live Zoom workshop for the Sedona Arts Center where she demonstrated her painting paper techniques for students and produced the specific colors she would need for the Sedona landscape.
“I hiked into a perfect spot on Oak Creek with my gear to create this collage on location. I started with an acrylic underpainting followed by application of hand-painted collage papers that serve as my paper palette. Walking over and standing on rocks on the edge of the creek was a precarious position, but it afforded me the best view and a very relaxing day listening to the water rush and being alone with my thoughts.
What I love about painting en Plein Air is being immersed in nature and natural light for my work. When you work in the field you are not distracted by anything like you can be when you are in the studio. Being able to focus so intently on my work for so long is truly a gift.” ~Elizabeth
