In this session, students will learn how to bring stained glass into the third dimension using came, stick, or mixed media to create a dimensional wall artwork with a sculptural or whimsical twist.
Objectives:
Design and construct a freeform or multi-dimensional piece
How to Integrate wire, bevels, glass nuggets, or found objects
Learn structural techniques for strength and balance
Experiment with creative assembly methods and “twisted” interpretations
Project Idea: A sculptural glass form—abstract, botanical, or architectural—with a structural copper foil/came component (the twist).

Sonja London-Hall’s artistry in stained glass is a remarkable fusion of historical reverence and innovative vision. Materials List – Beyond the Basics: Master Techniques in Stained Glass
Students should bring a basic set of stained glass tools for all classes. These include, glass cutter, soldering iron, running pliers, grozeirs, solder, flux, fid, and safety gear. A base toolkit can be purchased from the instructor with payment due TWO WEEKS prior to the start of class. The base toolkit is $165. A suggested addition to working on glasswork at home is a grinder which is not included in the base tool kit.
Required for All Classes (unless otherwise noted):
Basic Stained Glass Tools & Supplies
Glass cutter
Running pliers
Grozing pliers
Grinder (shared or personal)
Safety glasses
Glass cleaning supplies (paper towels, Dawn dish soap, or glass cleaner)
Flux and brush
Soldering iron
60/40 solder
Copper foil (standard 7/32″ or preferred size)
Burnishing tool (fid, popsicle stick, or similar)
Work surface (wafer board, Homasote, or foam board)
Specialty Materials by Class
Wire (tinned copper, brass, or steel – various gauges)
Bevels, jewels, nuggets, or found objects (optional)
Small clamps or helping hands for 3D assembly
Sturdy base or support for freestanding work
Optional: Decorative solder or lead-free solder for finishing
Other:
Apron or work shirt
Gloves (if preferred for cementing or patina)
Rheostat or temperature controller (recommended for precise soldering)

Registration:
Each student must enroll individually.
Students may register online or by calling the Sedona Arts Center’s Office at 928-282-3809, ext. 1.
Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted or student may pay with cash or check by registering in person during office hours, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.
In-Person and Online Workshops Registration/Cancellation Policy:
Payment in full is due upon registration, or a payment plan can be put in place by the student upon check-out through Sezzle.
There is a 15% Cancellation Fee for any cancellations made before January 28, 2026. Remaining balance will be refunded.
There are no refunds after January 28, 2026.
If Sedona Arts Center cancels the workshop for any reason, all payments made will be refunded in full.
Note: If traveling to Sedona, we strongly urge students to purchase refundable airline tickets or travel insurance in case of workshop cancellation due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen changes. Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for non-refundable ticket purchases or lodging fees.

The Sedona Arts Center is not responsible for providing make-up sessions or issuing refunds, credits, or transfers for courses missed as a result of illness, emergencies, or other events beyond our control. There are absolutely no refunds after the cut-off date for any reason, unless the Sedona Arts Center has to cancel the workshop, then all fees paid will be refunded in full.
Sonja was excellent. I believe she went above and beyond what a typical instructor might do. I could see she spent a lot of her personal time preparing for the upcoming classes. She was always available early before class and would stay over to help in any way. She took time to understand each student's goals and did what she could to help that student achieve those goals. She made every student feel good about their accomplishments. Her training and instruction style really made me think outside of the traditional stained glass box. I’m looking forward to a level two class in the future.
Sonja’s class exceeded my expectations! She was very knowledgeable, experienced, and creative with stained glass techniques. I also found her humorous and thoughtful. She presented herself and her class with online support, goals, strategies, and was extremely prepared with materials, tools, and lesson format. A+ for Sonja!!!
