Traditional Venetian Plaster, otherwise known as marble plaster, Italian plaster or polished plaster is made of lime putty and marble dust. Venetian Plaster sold today is often a combination of acrylic polymer and marble dust with an addition of lime putty. This combination allows the creation of surfaces that can be made to look like Italian fresco. Venetian Plaster has been used for centuries and although it was originally used for building purposes its main use now is to create sophisticated designs for the interior walls of buildings and private homes.
This one-day class will utilize an acrylic Venetian plaster base applied to canvas to create old world fresco effects. Participants will learn various techniques to crackle, paint, stencil, and transfer images to venetian plaster surfaces. Prior knowledge of transferred image techniques is not necessary. This class is appropriate for all levels.
A $45.00 Lab Fee will cover all supplies needed for this class. The Lab Fee is payable to the instructor on the day of class. Cash or check will be accepted.
