Mindful Nature Journaling

with Ann Brownfield Meara

April 8-9, 2022 (Friday – Saturday)

10 am – 3 pm

*Important Covid Note:  Ann Brownfield Meara requests that all students be fully vaccinated to participate in her workshop.  Please email her at mearas@comcast.net if you have any questions/concerns about this.  Masks will be required when you are inside the studio.

This workshop offers a retreat into mindfulness practices with quiet observation of the natural world, it’s beauty and wonder.  We will match our inner landscapes to nature’s slower rhythm by turning inward.  Dwelling in the present moment, participants will then turn attention outward toward nature, mindfully sensing and noticing both small details and large shifts in light, color and atmosphere.

Immersing ourselves in the beauty around and within us will facilitate a deep and abiding connection.  Experiencing this well being, we see nature unfold in new and interesting ways. With active reflection and observation through words and images, we will create descriptive passages and pages infused with both imagination and feeling.

This workshop offers writers and art makers of all levels the space, time and inspiration to weave simple, yet powerful visual and visceral reflections.  We will meditate on nature and upon passages from iconic nature writers. Practices and techniques will travel home with participants for continued use at home or on the go.

Weather permitting, workshop participants will work outside on the beautiful grounds at the Sedona Arts Center featuring expansive mountain vistas and quiet natural enclaves.

Bring your own hydration, sun protection and appropriate indoor and outdoor attire, plus workshop materials (TBD).
