Irrevocably in Love With Her by Juliette Buffington BGAS25

I make non-traditional ceramic sculptures. I find myself creating with the hands of a child, and the mind of an adult. These figurative sculptures are frequently reminiscent of childhood nostalgia and a general safe space. I work to help the viewer feel connected in the confines of a mental health, queer, and trans-safe space that allows anyone to feel their most authentic self. My main goal is to work towards healing myself and others through art. Most of the subject matter focuses on surrealist figures and animals dealing with heavy mental health, life decisions, and self-discovery. My inspiration varies from the weird side of the internet I was exposed to as a pre-teen to storybook imagery, ultimately letting my inner child roam free.

Description

I created queer scenarios from within. It wasn’t something forced upon me in the media, or by other people around me. I didn’t wake up one day and realize I was gay, but I did over time form this understanding with myself.
