As an emerging artist in her 60’s, she makes art because she is now free of the many barriers that prevent creativity. She states' "I create what I want, when I want. The spirit of my work is born in that freedom."
This freedom allows room for learning and growing without fear. To be able to experiment and fail which she says, "is not really a bad thing because I am doing. There is so much I want to try and learn; the truth is that I may eventually run out of time or be forced to stop. I have always loved learning and following my curiosity, creating art allows me to indulge in these all the time."
The spirit of her work reflects who she is and what she loves. She draws from the natural world with its patterns, color, and forms. Her work embraces a life that values gentleness and acceptance while encouraging curiosity and being open to new ideas and discovery.
Buckley's work has been exhibited in Tucson and the Big Gay Art Show is her first out-of-town show.
