Art as Healer…a soul journey into your heart and life.

Jeanne Bessette

“Everything is energy. We are made of energy…so it stands to reason that The art we create is no different. It is a direct response to our current state of being. It is a dialogue between our heart and the materials…the dialogue and the end result which is a physical pouring of us onto a canvas. It can and will tell us everything we need to know. about ourselves. When we open the creative portal, we invite truth to come through….” Jeanne Bessette

Join Jeanne to explore the in-between places and out onto the skinny branches where curiosity lives and true discoveries are made. As a participant of this workshop, you will discover why art and the creative process can help you make more coherent personal choices, how to interpret new awareness about yourself and your life and how to creatively navigate a path into yourself.

Jeanne considers herself one of the fortunate ones. She has enjoyed much success living a creative life as a full time artist. Her deep desire to help others do the same has led her to teaching and mentoring other creatives to live a fuller more authentic life. If you ask her what she attributes her career success to, she will tell you it is a combination of inner work, devotion to her craft, a keen eye on her business and a boots on the ground tenacity. Her workshops and retreats are filled with depth, warmth and wit with a sprinkle of technique. Her intuitive approach to painting and her ability in helping artists find their true voice leads her workshop participants to developing a stronger sense of self.

“I’m a realist which to me means I imagine the best, most outrageous life I can imagine, then I go about the business of achieving that life. If I were asked to describe myself in one sentence, I’d probably ask for an extension. I paint almost every day in my studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is literally 25 paces from my back door (less if you have longer legs). I’m not a native to the South; I’m a repaired New Englander which means I talk to strangers, smile more and grump less, but I still love going home to Rhode Island. I have an organic garden. I have a simple but full life.

My favorite color is purple…to the point of ridiculous. When I put my purple Doc Martens on, I think I have super powers. I love strawberries and caramel candy apples, not so much chocolate. I know! Can we still be friends? I’m a really good golfer. I’m a wine snob, a total foodie and I cook without recipes. In fact, recipes make me squeamish. I’ve been featured in several articles and magazines including landing on the cover of “Art Business News” as one of the top fifty artists to watch (I’m proud of that…so is my mom). I am now internationally collected and recognized in six countries.”

Notes: First Meeting on Tuesday at 10am in the Theatre Studio on the Arts Center Campus.
