Deborah, started as a muralist, painting murals and restoring works around campus at Coffman Memorial Union, University of Minnesota. She received a grant from Women's Art Institute Studio Intensive MCAD/ Minnesota College of Art and Design, where she was involved with WARM, Women's Art Resources of Minnesota for a number of years. She was drawn to Arizona after painting her rock imagery and started showing her work at the Creative Center of Scottsdale, but soon left for Sedona. Deborah has returned to AZ and now resides in Tucson.

Description

The work shows the Greek Mythology of the male equivalent of Aphrodite, “Aphroditus”, this idea of the god as “trans deity, or someone with both male and female traits. There are several of these gods from Greek to Hindu Vishnu, to Nuwa the Chinese goddess, to Baphomet.
