After retiring as a Registered Dietitian in Reno, NV and moving to Sedona, Nita and her hubby explored all of the mysteries and spiritual paths that Sedona offers meeting many friends along the way. Nowadays her “Spiritual Path” has lead her to sit quietly besides creeks and up trails into the Red Rocks. She meets with a plein air painting group weekly at different locations in and around Sedona and the Verde Valley. Southwestern architecture and Sedona’s rocky landscapes and creeks continue to be her favorite subjects to paint. A recent interest is creating Illustrated journals and stories. So many possibilities! Nita recently became a signature member of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society of Sedona. She is also a member of El Valle Artists Association and happily shares her techniques with local watercolor groups and friends. “A Tuesday morning well spent with my Plein Air Paint pals at Courthouse Vista Trailhead! The group has been meeting up at 8 AM in order to beat the hikers and visitors to our area. I love to just sit and “absorb” the scenery and good vibes before starting on my sketch. Sometimes sketching is like a meditation for me and I that all I have to show for the day. What doesn’t show is all of the peace and beauty I have absorbed while sketching.”
